About the role:
Reporting to the Manager, Financial Reporting & Analysis, Sun Life Global Investments (Canada) Inc. ("SLGI"), the role of Financial Analyst will be responsible for supporting the financial management functions of the investment fund company. They will have specific accountability for financial reporting, analysis, and supporting the control environment. This includes assisting both external and internal auditors.
What will you do?
- Prepare, reconcile and complete the monthly Investment Management Fee Statements
- Prepare a reconciliation of all Asset and Liability accounts to support the Account Reconciliation Template required to be completed on a monthly basis
- Prepare monthly/quarterly basis the Working Capital Report, the Seed Capital Report, the Asset Roll forward, and other reports as required by Corporate
- Prepare monthly/quarterly Financial Statements and the monthly Financial Package, which is presented to the internal leaders of Finance, as well as senior management
- Build/modify reports to support existing or new reporting and operational requirements
- Prepare and provide trending analysis on key monthly Vendor Invoices
- Prepare Wire Transfers as required
- Prepare monthly manual journal entries
- Identify enhancements and improve operational efficiency
- Provide on-going support to our team's control environment and work with internal/external auditors as required
- Participate on projects as required by SLGI. These may encompass both department as well as corporate initiatives
What do you need to succeed?
- 1 to 2 years of experience with mutual funds
- 1 to 2 years of experience in an Accounting role
- 1 to 2 years of experience working with large data sets focusing on summarizing, extracting and reconciling data
- Strong MS Excel (pivot tables, V-look ups) skills
- Detail oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
Preferred Skills:
- Accounting designation (CPA) or progress towards the same would be an asset
- Ownership and responsibility for meeting deadlines and accomplishing goals
