· Apply statistical methods to collect and analyze data to help solve real-world problems.
· Help decide what data is need to answer specific questions or problems, determine methods for finding or collecting data, design surveys, experiments, or opinion polls to collect data, collect data or train others to do so, analyze and interpret data, and report conclusions from their analysis.
· Use specialized statistical software to analyze data, however raw data sets will need to be archived in a format that can be read by programs available on the standard Coast Guard work-station image.
· Conduct analysis to identify trends and relationships within the data.
· Conduct tests to find out the data’s validity and to account for high survey non-response rates or sampling error.
· Produce written deliverables to include reports, spreadsheets, databases, formal process mapping, technical design, system testing and implementation activities explaining their findings and recommendations for managers, executives and other officials
