@Orchard LLC is seeking experienced Scientific Programmer Analysts to support a highly visible NOAA Satellite Applications and Research program. The ideal candidate will have experience supporting satellite-related data analysis efforts. This position is contingent upon contract award.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support new product development activities, working closely with the Senior Scientists and science teams.
- Maintain and troubleshoot data management and services to ensure uninterrupted access to data portals and servers.
- Effectively utilize Artificial Intelligence tools to optimize processes and operations.
- Support timely updates to processes, product availability, and quality monitoring metrics of products.
- Ensure uninterrupted availability of portals, websites, and services related to data systems.
- Provide necessary notifications for the users on product updates and features.
- Support any duties related to assurance work plans and communications.
- Additional duties include help desk support for products and services.
Qualifications:
- Master's degree in the field of Marine Science/Marine Biology, Oceanography, or Engineering (or related) required.
- Minimum 5 years of data analysis experience in the field of satellite, radar, or remote sensing.
- Prefer experience supporting/leading NOAA Satellite programs, particularly CoastWatch, PolarWatch, or OceanWatch programs.
- Experience working with environmental satellite data and related product development activities.
- Experience developing data processing and analysis using programming languages such as Python, FORTRAN, JavaScript, Perl, shell script, and MATLAB.
- Must have programming skills with at least one of the following languages: MATLAB, Pyton, FORTRAN, IDL, and Perl/Shell Scripting
- Knowledge of common earth science data formats, metadata, and applications.
- Familiarity with Cloud platforms such as AWS and Azure.
- Knowledge of observations and ocean information products, such as Low Earth Orbit or Geostationary Orbit missions, is preferred.
- Familiarity with ocean and coastal water remote sensing satellite observation.
- Strong preference for applicants with prior experience dealing with data related to sea surface temperature and ocean surface vector.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to translate technical requirements to non-technical audiences.
