The purpose of this position is to perform various functions in the area of analysis, implementation, and evaluation of budgetary financial systems. Review, analyze, evaluate and work in the development and creation of the City budget according to State laws regarding budget compliance.
This job works under general supervision, independently developing work methods and sequences. Β 

Examples of Duties

The essential functions listed below are those that represent the majority of the time spent working in this class. Management may assign additional functions related to the type of work of the class as necessary.

  • Develops budget package for department/divisions; reviews budget submittals when returned; meets with department heads and other committees to discuss budget issues and questions.
  • Participate in budget development workshops.
  • Reviews and evaluates a variety of management, financial and analytical reports as requested.
  • Prepares Budget documents for City and for GFOA award.
  • Maintains Budget compliance as required by State of Florida TRIM requirements.
  • Designs, develops and maintains databases/spreadsheets for various administrative/financial functions.
  • Coordinates and/or facilitates special projects as assigned.
  • Receives and responds to inquiries, concerns and requests for assistance.
  • Prepares and analyzes monthly financial reports.
  • Reviews budget to actuals for revenues and expenditures.
  • Prepares and conducts analyses of accounting projects and Capital Improvement Projects reports.
  • Performs related work as assigned.

Typical Qualifications

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business or Public Administration or related discipline.
  • Two years of governmental accounting or related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
SPECIAL CERTIFICATIONS AND LICENSES:
  • Must possess and maintain a valid state driver’s license with an acceptable driving history.Β 
  • Prefers, CPA, CGFO or CPFO
