JOB TITLE:  Business Analyst

DEPARTMENT:  Public Sector – Utility Practice

REPORTS TO:  Enterprise Services Manager –Utilities

JOB LOCATION:  Remote (US Based)

TRAVEL:  Up to 25%

 

SUMMARY OF POSITION:

The Business Analyst is responsible for analyzing business requirements and translating them into technical specifications; for defining, executing, and documenting system testing; and for developing, maintaining, and delivering system documentation for business and technical stakeholders.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Requirements Analysis

  • Interface with business users (sales, professional services, support, etc.) to define, document, and ensure accuracy of functional requirements.
  • Prepare user stories by analyzing and summarizing information provided by the business stakeholders.
  • Translate business requirements into technical specifications utilized by software developers.

Testing and Quality Assurance

  • Support full testing lifecycle by writing step-by-step scripts, conditions, and test documentation within an agile methodology (i.e. Scrum).
  • Perform detailed testing to ensure software development results align with expected outcomes.
  • Document and communicate on-going testing outcomes (success, defects) with development team and help define prioritization for final resolution.
  • Collaborate with business on user acceptance testing and any associated support.

Documentation

  • Create new quality system documentation and training materials for business and technical stakeholders including how-to, operating procedures, system overview, API reference materials, etc. for i3 Verticals products and hosted systems.
  • Maintain document control system to track all documentation changes and updates in accordance with standards.
  • Ensure consistency across all documentation deliverables.

Other

  • Actively participate in team meetings and requirements reviews by offering ideas, suggestions, and/or feedback as needed.
  • Perform other tasks as assigned by Product Development Team.

 

 MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE): 

  • Associates degree or 1-4 years of experience in lieu of degree
  • 3-5 yrs. of experience in technical writing, business analysis (for technology development) and system testing.
  • Excellent documentation (including training materials) skills.
  • Proven analytical, design, and conceptual skills in software development.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to prioritize workload and manage multiple responsibilities effectively.
  • Ability to proactively take ownership of tasks and deliverables.
  • Experience working both independently and as part of a team.
  • Experience working in a virtual, remote environment.
  • Experience using multiple documentation tools to write, format, manage, and publish high-quality content.
  • Previous use of agile project management methodologies such as Scrum.
  • Proficiency in using Microsoft office products.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Working knowledge of Adobe, JIRA, Confluence.
  • Experience with Customer Information Systems, preferably in the utility industry.
