Business Intelligence Engineer - BI & Data Strategy

SUMMARY Responsible for transforming raw data into clear, actionable insights. Focuses on orchestrating and mapping data, often by reverse-engineering complex Excel workbooks and utilizing crosswalk tables to standardize values. Responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining highly interactive dashboards and visualizations using leading BI tools, while also investigating and resolving data issues to ensure accuracy. Contributes to data governance, provides essential end-user support and training, and continuously learns new trends to enhance reporting capabilities.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES  Creates basic tables using Excel for orchestration and data mapping purposes.Reverse-engineers complex Excel workbooks created by the business.Utilizes crosswalk tables to standardize values for expected business results.Utilizes data models for creating data visualizations.Reviews, learns, and documents current operational processes and data sources to establish support for current and future reporting requirements.Designs, develops, and maintains highly interactive and visually compelling dashboards, reports, and data visualizations using leading BI tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau, Sigma).Investigates and resolves data issues that impact front-end reports and visualizations, ensuring data accuracy and reliability.Contributes to data governance efforts, particularly as they relate to data definitions, consistency, and quality within the reporting layer.Provides comprehensive end-user support and training on developed BI reports and dashboards, fostering widespread adoption and data literacy.Assists the team in management of data assets.Participates in design and code reviews to ensure best practices and standards are being followed by all team members.Monitors and learns about the latest BI industry trends, software versions, and visualization tools to enhance reporting capabilities.QUALIFICATIONS EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE Bachelor's Degree in IT Management, Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, or a related field; or an equivalent combination of education and experienceTwo (2) or more years of requirements gathering, data analysis, report development, or related experienceOne (1) or more years of Insurance industry experienceSKILLSProficient in data visualization tools (e.g. Microsoft Power BI, Sigma, Tableau, etc.)Demonstrated knowledge of system integrations and database structuresProficient in Microsoft Office suite applicationsExcellent verbal and written communication skillsSharp analytical and problem-solving skillsExcellent customer service skills and ability to maintain effective interpersonal relationshipsStrong ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and adapt to rapidly changing prioritiesProven ability to work in a team and to foster teamwork
