General Summary:

The Client Reporting Analyst II delivers high‑quality reporting, analytics, and insights that help large self‑insured clients understand absence and disability trends. This role partners closely with H&P Directors and internal teams to create reporting packages for client meetings, conduct complex data analysis, and ensure accuracy across all reporting outputs. Ideal for someone who enjoys analytics, process improvement, and collaborative problem‑solving in a client‑focused environment.

What You’ll Do

Build, maintain, and deliver recurring and custom client reports.
Analyze and validate data, identify trends, and create dashboards/visualizations.
Support H&P Directors with insights for client meetings and stewardship reporting.
Troubleshoot complex reporting issues and lead resolution efforts.
Maintain system configurations, documentation, and data quality standards.
Partner across teams to refine processes and implement reporting improvements.
Mentor junior analysts and contribute to departmental projects.

Job Specifications

  • BA or BS degree required, or equivalent work experience.

  • Preferred: 3+ years as a Client Reporting Analyst I or equivalent experience in reporting, analytics, or data operations.

  • Extensive business knowledge of systems, data sources, and reporting processes supported by the functional area.

  • Strong understanding of absence reporting, disability/lost‑time data, and related client programs.

Technical Skills

  • Proficient in Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Word, and business intelligence/data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau).

  • Ability to learn and apply data mining/query tools and techniques; experience with Alteryx is a plus.

  • Strong analytical, critical thinking, and problem‑solving skills.

  • High attention to detail and data accuracy.

  • Strong documentation practices; experience using OneNote preferred.

Primary Responsibilities

Reporting, Data Analysis & Visualization

  • Set up, maintain, and deliver recurring and custom reporting packages.

  • Produce standard and advanced reports supporting client presentations and trend analysis.

  • Validate, aggregate, and visualize data using Tableau and Excel.

  • Support operational and ad hoc analysis for internal and client‑facing teams.

  • Maintain dashboards, performance metrics, and key indicators.

  • Ensure data accuracy by cross‑checking multiple sources.

Systems & Process Ownership

  • Maintain reporting system configurations and alignment with business needs.

  • Troubleshoot and resolve reporting and configuration issues.

  • Monitor production systems and ensure smooth operation.

  • Document requirements and support system updates and enhancements.

  • Maintain documentation, workflows, and data governance processes.

Problem Solving & Business Support

  • Lead efforts to research and resolve complex data and reporting issues.

  • Evaluate and implement effective solutions with awareness of business impacts.

  • Manage testing for medium‑sized initiatives and partner with IT to ensure quality.

Client & Stakeholder Collaboration

  • Partner with H&P Directors to prepare reporting and insights for client meetings.

  • Build strong relationships with cross‑functional teams.

  • Communicate complex data clearly to non‑technical audiences.

  • Clarify stakeholder needs and propose effective reporting solutions.

Process Improvement & Strategy

  • Identify and implement reporting and workflow improvements.

  • Contribute to strategic reporting development and continuous improvement.

Leadership & Mentorship

  • Train and mentor junior analysts.

  • Demonstrate leadership and support peers through change and ambiguity.

  • Participate in team and cross‑functional projects.

    The base salary range for applicants for this position is listed below. Unless actual salary is indicated above in the job description, actual pay will be based on skill, geographical location and experience.

    $53,300.00-$100,700.00

    Additionally, Unum offers a portfolio of benefits and rewards that are competitive and comprehensive including healthcare benefits (health, vision, dental), insurance benefits (short & long-term disability), performance-based incentive plans, paid time off, and a 401(k) retirement plan with an employer match up to 5% and an additional 4.5% contribution whether you contribute to the plan or not.  All benefits are subject to the terms and conditions of individual Plans.
