Data Analyst - Policy & Planning Virginia Housing Richmond, VA Hybrid (3 days in office / 2 days remote) Contract - 1 Year (12 months)
Job Summary We are seeking a Data Analyst to support the Policy & Planning department at Virginia Housing (not part of the IT division). This role involves researching and analyzing housing, economic, and demographic conditions/trends, along with state, local, and federal policies/initiatives that impact Virginia Housing's programs. You'll evaluate the organization's data against housing needs and focus on finalizing the Policy & Planning "legacy database" and integrating it into the Authority's broader data programs.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct in-depth research and policy analysis on housing, community development, demographic, and economic trends.
- Interpret data sources and research findings to inform managerial decisions on policy issues.
- Finalize and integrate the legacy database for Policy & Planning.
- Develop dashboards using PowerBI or Tableau.
- Prepare clear, concise reports and graphic presentations (including MS PowerPoint).
- Use MS Access and Excel for database development and analysis.
- (Preferred) Leverage GIS databases for housing/demographic research and trend analysis.
Required Skills & Knowledge
- Thorough understanding of housing and community development issues, public policies, and programs.
- Extensive experience in housing-related research, policy analysis, and interpreting demographic/economic data for decision-makers.
- Strong writing and presentation skills to communicate complex information clearly and succinctly.
- Proficiency in MS Access, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Ability to build dashboards in PowerBI or Tableau.
- Preferred: Experience with GIS database development and use in housing/community development analysis.

- Hybrid schedule based at HQ in Richmond, VA.
- 1-year contract assignment.
