Data Specialist

Responsible for managing Neurosurgery research data, including but not limited to data collection and entry, patient enrollment. Under direct supervision, discusses with management before making decisions.

Duties:

  • Collects data for patients enrolled in the study and maintains data in electronic data system.
  • Updates and submits data within specific timeline.
  • Follows required protocol procedures for clinic, surgery, and discusses with supervisor.
  • Obtains research source documents from patient records.
  • Enters data to the system, to include but not limited to registration, toxicity, drug, radiation, treatment, and pathology. Meets with study staff and external monitors to clarify and corrects any data entry errors.
  • May assist with collection of data for internal chart review projects to include collecting data from other sites.Β 
  • Assists with preparation of research charts for clinical and research team and study-specific reports and queries for investigators and administrators.
  • Maintains study-specific data sets for toxicity and outcome measurement.
  • Assists with monitoring protocol compliance, to include but not limited to dosing, study procedures, tumor measurement, and disease assessment entries.
  • Notifies supervisor of all protocol deviations.
  • Assists with audits of study patient documents to identify protocol non-compliance and reports deficiencies to supervisor.
  • Performs various duties as needed to successfully fulfill the function of the position.

Required Education: Required\: High School Diploma or GED AND:

  • Β 6 months data collection and entry experience.

Skills:

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, and Outlook)
  • Ability to communicate verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to work independently and as a team member.
  • Ability to understand Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA)
  • Ability to learn and apply Common Terminology Criteria for Adverse Events (CTCAE)
