PRIMARY PURPOSE / FUNCTION:

Support and provide leadership and direction for campus efforts to improve student academic performance. 

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

 

     Education/Certification:

     Elementary Teaching Certification

     Master's degree, preferred

    

   

     Special Knowledge/Skills:
     Knowledge of curriculum and instruction
     Ability to evaluate instructional program and teaching effectiveness
     Ability to manage budget and resources
     Strong communication, public relations, and interpersonal skills
     Calm and patient demeanor with students, staff, and others
     Skill in the delivery of quality focused customer service

 

     Experience:
     Three years experience as a classroom teacher
     Two years of experience in some type of leadership role

 

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

  1. Coordinates and supervises instructional and curricular services to meet the needs of the students and teachers.
  2. Facilitate the alignment and development of PK-5 curriculum based upon continuing systematic review and analysis.
  3. Collaborate with instructional staff in evaluating and selecting instructional materials, including textbook adoption, to  meet student learning needs.
  4. Provide instructional coaching as needed to assist teachers in developing effective classroom instructional processes, procedures and strategies.
  5. Manage the campus testing program and requirements for grades PK-5 , including state and campus assessments.
  6. Plan, implement and evaluate instructional programs with campus teams including learning objectives, instrucitonal strategies and assessment techniques.
  7. Ensure that campus goals and objectives are developed using a collaborative process and problem-solving technique   when appropriate.
  8. Demonstrate skill in conflict resolution.
  9. Apply research based strategies to improve the content, sequence, and outcome of the teaching-learning process.
  10. Develop and refine a communication system which provides for a two-way flow of information between campuses and   the district level curriculum and instruction department.
  11. Review and analyze data, including student achievement data, to examine and improve the effective delivery of the   instructional programs.
  12. Assist in developing and planning Professional Development based on the campus needs assessment.
  13. Model behaviors which insure the development of campus teams focused on problem solving, meeting individual       student needs, and continuous organizational improvement and growth.
  14. Implement the policies established by federal and state law, State Board of Education rule, and the local board policy.
  15. Monitor professional research through reading, conference attendance and other professional growth experiences and disseminate ideas and information to other professionals.
  16. Coordinate with IT Department to support student data software and academic related programs.
  17. Compile, maintain, and file all reports, records, and other documents required.
  18. Demonstrate behavior that is professional, ethical, and responsible and serve as role model for all district staff.
  19. Articulate the campus and district's mission, instructional philosophy, and curriculum implementation strategies to the communityand solicit their support in realizing the mission.
  20. Plan the necessary time, resources, and materials to support accomplishment of educational goals.

  21. Other duties as assigned.

  1. Comply with policies established by federal and state law, State Board of Education rule, and local board policy.
  2. Comply with all district and campus routines, regulations and procedures.
  3. Perform other duties as assigned by the building principal and the Superintendent of Schools 

 

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
None; Support of instructional services expected.

Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; stand and move throughout the facility. Duties also typically include considerable walking, standing, stooping, bending, and moderate lifting. Normal office environment as well as inside and outside duties; occasional prolonged and irregular hours.
