Financial Analyst
Description

Prescient Edge is seeking a Financial Analyst for our headquarters office in McLean, Virginia to support our Finance team as well as our Intelligence team. As a Financial Analyst, you will:

  • Monitor revenue and expenses for departmental or unit accounts
  • Ensure expenditure control and compliance with funding and reporting requirements as well as accounting procedures
  • Construct routine spreadsheet applications, prepare financial data for input into finance and human resources systems, and generate reports
  • Performs calculations that may include interest and depreciation
  • Coordinate the preparation of regularly scheduled and special billings, costs reports, analyses, studies, inventories, and preliminary financial statements
  • Review and approve expenditure, personnel, and purchasing documents for availability of funding, correctness, and compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements
  • Analyze, reconcile, balance, and maintain accounting records
  • Develop budgets and special financial reports
  • Prepare, review, and process budget, revenue, expense, payroll, and related correcting entries and may prepare bank reconciliations of intermediate complexity
  • Serve as a liaison with clients, vendors, and employees
  • Coordinate and monitor data processing batches, including suspense control, cash counts, and balancing
  • Assist with and prepare materials for audits
  • Contributing to strategic initiatives by engaging in the cost analysis process, establishing and enforcing policies and procedures, providing trends and forecasts, explaining processes and techniques, and recommending future actions
  • Identifying financial status by comparing and analyzing actual results with plans and forecasts
  • Perform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned

Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field (e.g., Finance, Accounting, Economics, Mathematics, etc.)
  • Experience with accounts payable
  • Experience performing data analysis and interpreting results
  • Ability to track trends over time
  • Ability to schedule and budget
  • Computer software skills (e.g., Microsoft Office suite)
  • Ability to manage multiple projects while also achieving the stated goals and requirements
  • Ability to effectively make decisions and solve problems
  • Ability to work independently as well as within a team
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and in writing
