Financial Analyst

Β 


The Financial Analyst position in the Finance Department works within the accounting and budget & evaluation divisions. Β The key functions of the Financial Analyst include analyzing and evaluating complex financial data, developing a variety of reports including financial statements, budgets, and regulatory reports, coordinating and conducting special projects which involve the analysis of accounting issues, budget requests, and utilization of City resources, and providing analytical support to other City departments. Β  Β The Financial Analyst will be responsible for some treasury operations, compliance with payment card data security standards and governmental accounting standards, working with budgeting and dashboard software to increase reporting and transparency capabilities, and handling allocations and monitoring City revenues among other duties. Β

Qualifications and Requirements

Experience, Education, and Training

  • Requires graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance; or graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration or a related field with a minor or emphasis in Accounting with a minimum of 15 credit hours;

AND
Β 
  • The degree requirement must be supplemented with three years of applicable experience such as budgeting, accounting, or municipal administration.Β 
Β 
  • A position in the Planning and Development Department may require applicable experience with a bank or similar financial institution.
Β 
PREFERRED
Β 
  • A Master's Degree in Public Administration may be desirable for specific assignments.
