Position: Senior Business Data Analyst (ERP)
Employment Type: Contract (9 Months)
Compensation Details:
· Data Analyst 18\: Salaries typically range from $ 96,557 to $128,743 annually, based on qualifications and experiences, plus a performance-based incentive.
Location:
· Export Development Canada operates in a hybrid work environment, currently requiring employees to work in the office 2 days per week. (subject to change).
· This role can be performed from EDC’s headquarters in Ottawa.

Team Overview:
The Digital & Technology Solutions (DTS) group under the leadership of the Chief Information Officer was established in 2023 with the mission of empowering our customers and colleagues to take on the world, by seamlessly delivering secure and reliable digital experiences. Digital & Technology Solutions has set out to achieve the following objectives for EDC\:
· Define, execute, and sustain the integrated technology target state, target data model and technology operations required to enable EDC’s 2030 business transformation.
· Establish and manage the rolling 3 Year Digital Roadmap that sequences the technology outcomes required to achieve the technology target state and facilitate its execution across all domains in the organization.
· Keep pace with industry trends and emerging technologies, ensuring EDC has access to the digital technology tools it needs to stay relevant in the market and grow Canadian global trade.
· Lead and ensure integrated digital, data, infrastructure, and cybersecurity implementations to create excellent customer, user, and employee experiences.
Corporate Functions Transformation – ERP Program
The Corporate Functions Transformation (CFT) program is a multi-year strategic initiative designed to modernize and unify core business processes across HR, Finance, Procurement, and IT. At its heart is the implementation of a new Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) platform, replacing legacy systems and siloed processes with an integrated, efficient, and future-ready solution.
The EDOT (Enterprise Data Operations and Technology) group under DTS significantly impacts EDC’s business operations by ensuring the enterprise data ecosystem runs smoothly and efficiently, delivering reliable and timely data to the business and supporting strategic initiatives across the organization. Within EDOT the Data Delivery Enablement teams mission is to optimize the availability of timely, accurate and reliable data, enabling business stakeholders to make data-driven decisions. Through strategic planning, cross-team collaboration and solution governance, we integrate business goals with data solutions to achieve maximum impact.
As a Senior Data Analyst works as a liaison between the business and technical communities in the development of data solutions that support the business needs. The Senior Data Analyst, while applying digital principles, elicits, analyzes, communicates, validates, and translates data business needs into communications, agile stories (EPIC, Features, Stories and Tasks) and other documentation. This role also requires an enhanced understanding and experience with Data modeling and analysis techniques to build and maintain transformation rules and source to target mappings.
The Senior Data Analyst should be able to understand client ask, work with clients to deep dive into the business rules and data transformation rules requirements, as well as analyze and document new data requirements and to be able to help the design of the new data integration stream or update the existing data pipeline.
The Senior Data Analyst is an active participant in an Agile team and all phases of the product lifecycle and will work with the squad, various technology stakeholders, and internal customers to identify and maximize opportunities to leverage information and technology capabilities to enable business use cases. The Senior Data Analyst assesses processes and information streams and is proficient in the utilization of the appropriate tools, models, and techniques as part of delivering capabilities.
This position requires digital competencies, an ability to learn new solutions rapidly, the agility to respond to constant change, strong IT knowledge, as well as excellent communications and analytical skills. It also necessitates strong collaborative and relationship management skills given the high level of interaction.
What you will be doing:
· Understanding client requirements and translating them into technical terms and user stories.
· Collaborating with Agile teams, Business Analysts, Data Architects, and Data Engineers to develop solution approaches.
· Reviewing and recommending conceptual, logical, and physical data models to determine compatibility and fit with architectural principles and optimal solution design.
· Researching and documenting data platforms and outputs, including source-to-target mapping, business rules for data transformation, data cataloging, and data lineage.
· Analyzing system data elements and existing data structures, understanding data lineage from source to target, and ensuring efficient data flow between users and stakeholders.
· Utilizing end-to-end data process knowledge to analyze, cleanse, and enrich data elements, ensuring accuracy and consistency.
· Collecting, organizing, analyzing, and disseminating information with attention to detail and accuracy, and deconstructing complex technical solutions for non-technical audiences.
· Presenting complex issues to stakeholders using persuasion, influence, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills, and leading sessions to review data requirements and achieve consensus.
· Delivering clear and usable documentation that supports the sign-off process and is serviceable for technical project members
· participating in sprint-based activities such as Sprint Reviews, Retrospectives, and backlog refinements.
What we are looking for:
· Completed an Undergraduate Degree in Management Information Systems, Computer Science or Engineering, Commerce, Business, or related field
· Minimum of 7+ years as a dedicated Data Analyst
· Well-rounded experience in the whole data lifecycle management and hands-on experience in the following data management domains\: dimensional and relational data modeling, data quality, SQL programming, ETL development, metadata management and master data management
· Experience with reverse engineering the source to target mapping to gain data insights
· Ability to produce ETL specification based on the physical data model
· Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, organize, analyze, and disseminate significant amounts of information with attention to detail and accuracy.
· Excellent oral and written communication skills. Ability to communicate with both business and technical audiences. Strong listening skills and story telling skills
What will make you stand out:
· Experience in business intelligence, data, and reporting related transformation projects that involve heavy data migration activities.
· Experience working with market leading Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) solutions in Finance and Human Resources domain.
· Experience with Azure Data Platform technologies and Databricks
· Experience with data modeling technologies such as Erwin
· Knowledge of Spark SQL
· Programming experience\: SQL, R, Python
· Excellent verbal and written communication, critical thinking, time management, priority planning and interpersonal skills.
· Strong relationship management skills, including facilitating group sessions and displaying leadership within a project team
· Strong problem-solving skills
· Experienced in an agile environment. Can pivot to support changing business priorities
· Bilingual in both official languages (English and French)
