Bucknell University is accepting applications for a Senior Financial Analyst to join our finance team and play a critical role in fixed asset accounting, external reporting, and financial analysis within a multi-system, cloud-based environment.

In this role, youโ€™ll lead and support high-impact financial activities โ€” from to ensuring accuracy in reporting fixed assets and short-term investments, reconciling revenue and expenses, and overseeing daily cash flow analysis. Youโ€™ll work cross-functionally with Finance, Budget, and IT teams to support decision-making, ensure compliance, and continuously improve financial operations.

Reporting Relationships / Direct Reports

Reports to the Director, Accounting Services, and will provide oversight to accounting staff.

Work Setting

Hybrid, with an expectation to be on-campus for training, followed by the opportunity to work 1-2 days remotely following a successful training period.

Work Schedule

Monday โ€“ Friday, 8:00am โ€“ 4:30pm, and as required to complete the work of the position.

What You Will Do

  • Performs operational accounting of fixed asset records, depreciation, including construction/acquisitions in progress.ย  Prepares quarterly reporting of fixed asset acquisitions/disposition to senior budget officials in the Finance and Facilities offices.
  • Performs and assists with:
    • data analysis, reconciliation, and reporting of various asset and liability accounting including but not limited to deferred charges, accrued expenses and deferred revenue.
    • analyses of revenues and expenses in a hierarchical account and cost center environment.
    • identification of trends in financial data, draw conclusions and observations, develop, present, and implement recommendations, and create follow-up analysis.
    • journal entry preparation / review as needed including the review of automated data feeds to the accounting system.
    • accounting and reconciliation of short-term investments, along with corresponding monthly reporting.
  • Provides oversight to accounting staff; such as but not limited to providing direction for internal research and scholarly development programs, including faculty and non-faculty awards.
  • Reviews financial transactions detecting inaccuracies and determining with assistance from the Finance and Budget team the proper way to resolve any errors.
  • Manages daily cash flow analysis and reviews reconciliations and reporting of all bank and ecommerce activity.
  • Assists Finance team with the preparation of supporting schedules and reconciliations for industry surveys, financial ratio analyses, 990 tax reporting, and other reporting requirements.
  • Supports testing of the financial system upgrades and evaluating new features and enhancements for possible implementation with the Financial Information Systems team.
  • Contributes to development and enforcement of policies, procedures, and internal controls in support of financial operations.
  • Provides support to external auditors by responding to data and documentation requests in accordance with auditor specifications.

What You Will Bring

Required

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or similar field and five years of accounting related experience.
  • Extensive experience using complex ERP systems for accounting, financial reporting or auditing.
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel.
  • Thorough understanding of generally accepted accounting principles as applied in a complex for-profit or not-for-profit setting.

Preferred, But Not Required

  • CPA certification or advanced degree
  • Supervisory experience
  • Experience in Workdayย

Salary Range:

72,640.00-90,800.00

The offer rate will be based on a review of the candidate's credentials compared to the qualifications of the position, internal equity, and our overall compensation philosophy.ย 

This role is not budgeted for visa sponsorship at this time, all candidates must be authorized to work in the US at the time of submission of the application.
