About the Role:   

We’re hiring a Senior Business Intelligence Engineer to lead the NY-based Measurement, Ad Tech, and Data Science (MADS) team. As part of an entrepreneurial team that is just getting started, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the analytics strategy and driving multi-year roadmaps that align with Digital Matter’s vision. You'll also have an opportunity to be a force multiplier by mentoring other BIEs and Data Engineers on your team.   

You’ll design and build solutions for both the internal team and a portfolio of global retail and consumer clients.   These solutions include executive reporting, highly polished dashboards, and exploratory self-service tools, as well as the datasets that power them to analyze and present insights associated with media and omnichannel consumer behaviors.   

This is a hands-on, high-impact role that blends visualization expertise, technical depth, and business context.    

 
What You’ll Do:   

• Lead the design, development, and launch of reporting solutions from intake through delivery.  

• Build scalable, interactive dashboards using Tableau, Power BI, Looker, or similar tools.  

• Translate complex data into actionable insights and visual stories for operational and executive audiences. 

• Collaborate with stakeholders to define KPIs and reporting logic, ensuring alignment and clarity.  

• Partner with Data Engineering to ensure data models support dashboard performance and accuracy.  

• Contribute visualization strategies for measuring integrated media performance, ad impact, or customer behavior. 

• Coordinate with offshore contributors to ensure timely and consistent execution.  

• Maintain documentation for dashboards, metrics, definitions, and best practices.  

• Design, develop, implement, test, document, and operate large-scale, high-volume, high-performance data models, reports/dashboards/BI solutions for analytics and deep learning. 

• Implement data ingestion routines in both real time and batch using best practices in data modeling, ETL/ELT processes.   

• Provide online reporting and analysis using business intelligence tools and a logical abstraction layer against large, multi-dimensional datasets and multiple sources. 

• Gather business and functional requirements and translate these requirements into robust, scalable, operable solutions that work well within the overall data architecture. 

• Produce comprehensive, usable data set documentation, metadata, BI reports, dashboards, and insights.   
 

What You’ll Bring:  

• 10+ years of experience in a Data Visualization, Data Scientist, or Data Analyst role. 

• BS in Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Information Systems, Engineering, Economics, or a related field. 

• Advanced SQL skills with experience querying large-scale, complex datasets. 

• Proficiency in Python for data wrangling, automation, or integration with reporting workflows.  

• Strong proficiency with data visualization tools such as Tableau / PowerBI / MicroStrategy / etc. for analysis, insight synthesis, reporting deliverable design & development, and executive presentation. 

•Be self-driven and show ability to deliver on ambiguous projects with incomplete or ‘dirty’ data.  

• Advanced ability to draw insights from data and clearly communicate them to the stakeholders and senior management as required.  

• Knowledge of data management fundamentals and data storage principles.  

• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal 

• Ability and interest in working in a fast-paced and rapidly changing environment.  

Nice to Have: 
• Experience with dbt or other modern data stack tools. 

• Familiarity with custom visual libraries (e.g., D3.js) or advanced reporting techniques. 

• Background in dashboard QA, metrics governance, or data quality control frameworks. 
 

The salary range posted is reflective of base salary, which will be determined based on skills, experience, and qualifications. You will also be eligible for equity and benefits.
