Water Treatment Data Specialist (Data Center) Location: Remote (10% Travel)
A Water Treatment Data Specialist practicing in the Data Center Industry will be responsible for supporting fleet-level initiatives across the U.S. by managing and analyzing critical water treatment data. This role is pivotal in building, maintaining, and optimizing complex databases for chemical testing information gathered across a fleet of data centers. The Data Specialist will contribute to solving customer water treatment concerns through expert data analysis, support laboratory information flow, and assist in troubleshooting water treatment and control equipment by providing data-driven insights.
As a Data Specialist, you will be part of an elite team and receive an industry-competitive salary, expenses, and benefits. The compensation package includes a salary and yearly bonus commensurate with experience and generated results. $75,000 to $110,000 for a qualified candidate.

Position Overview:
Garratt-Callahan is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Data Specialist to design, implement, and manage complex data systems and databases specifically for our data center clients' water treatment programs. This role requires a proactive individual with strong analytical, data management, organizational, and problem-solving skills. The ideal candidate will possess a strategic mindset regarding data architecture, exceptional attention to detail, and the capacity to thrive in a dynamic environment. You will be an integral part of an elite team dedicated to providing innovative and reliable water treatment solutions to the rapidly growing data center industry through robust data utilization.
High-Level Job Responsibilities:
- Develop, manage, and maintain comprehensive databases for water treatment chemical testing data across a national fleet of data centers.
- Ensure data integrity, accuracy, and accessibility for the technical team.
- Analyze data to identify trends, anomalies, and opportunities for optimizing water treatment programs.
- Assist with the interpretation and expression of data for local teams to present to customers.
- Support the delivery of customer KPIs by providing actionable insights from data.
- Promote Garratt-Callahan solutions including proprietary chemical blends, equipment, & monitoring technology through effective data reporting and analysis.
- Contribute to keeping our existing customers happy and safe by ensuring data supports proactive service.
Position Responsibilities:
- Database Design and Management:
- Design, build, and maintain robust and scalable databases for storing and organizing water chemistry, operational, and equipment data.
- Develop and implement data quality control procedures to ensure accuracy and consistency.
- Establish and manage data intake processes from various sources, including lab reports, sensor data, and field technician input.
- Optimize database performance and ensure data security.
- Data Analysis and Reporting:
- Perform complex data analysis to identify trends, correlations, and critical insights related to water treatment performance.
- Develop and generate regular and ad-hoc reports, dashboards, and visualizations to communicate findings to internal teams and clients.
- Collaborate with field technicians and engineers to interpret data and translate it into actionable recommendations.
- Support the development of predictive models for water treatment needs and potential issues.
- Technical Support and Collaboration:
- Serve as a subject matter expert on water treatment data for the team.
- Collaborate closely with sales, engineering, and field service teams to understand their data needs and provide support.
- Assist in troubleshooting data-related issues and provide solutions.
- Data Center Focus:
- Develop a strong understanding of the specific water treatment needs and challenges of data center facilities (e.g., cooling water, process water, wastewater) to ensure data systems are fit for purpose.
- Stay informed about industry trends and best practices related to data management and water treatment in data centers.

Qualifications:
- You will be a successful applicant if you have a technical degree such as Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Biology, Environmental Science, Data Science, Computer Science with a scientific application focus, or a related field.
- A 4-year technical or scientific degree is required for this position.
- A successful applicant must have experience or a strong interest in learning advanced water treatment technologies, coupled with demonstrable experience in database management and data analysis.
- A successful applicant must be detail-oriented, adhere to safety protocols (when occasional site visits occur), and be able to lift 50 pounds wearing PPE in all weather conditions (relevant for rare site work, if any).
- Must have 3-5+ years of experience in data management, data analysis, or a related analytical role, preferably within a scientific or industrial context. Experience with water treatment data is a significant advantage.
- The ideal candidate understands and can demonstrate capacity to Extract-Collect-Refine Data and Transform for Meaningful Use with the intent of Delivering Mission-Oriented Results.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to present data insights clearly to team members.
- Ability to communicate effectively to internal stakeholders.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools (especially Excel) and Google Suite tools. Proficiency with database query languages (e.g., SQL) and data visualization tools is highly preferred.
- Ability to manage complex data situations, take high-level direction, and work independently at a high output level is necessary.

Additional Preferred Qualifications:
- Familiarity With Industrial Cooling Towers and their operational data.
- Knowledge and Proficiency with Lab Information Management Systems (LIMS) or similar data systems.
- Experience with statistical analysis software or programming languages (e.g., Python, R).
- Ability to Provide Virtual Presentations of data findings to groups.
- Experience Working in a Team Setting as a Collaborative Partner in a data-centric role.
