The Job at a Glance
The Business Intelligence (BI) Engineer provides consistent, high-quality business intelligence reporting and dashboarding services to departments across CU1. They are responsible for the development, maintenance, and support of BI dashboards, reports, and data models. The BI Engineer partners with business and IT teams to understand reporting needs and deliver accurate, reliable, and user-friendly BI solutions that support operational insight and data informed decision-making.
A Typical Day
- Design, build, maintain, and enhance BI dashboards, reports, and automated reporting using tools such as Power BI.
- Write and maintain SQL queries to support dashboards, reports, and ad hoc data requests.
- Partner with business stakeholders to understand reporting requirements and translate them into effective BI visualizations and datasets.
- Analyze data to identify trends, insights, and opportunities that support operational efficiency and informed decision-making.
- Ensure consistency, accuracy, and reliability across all BI dashboards and reports.
- Troubleshoot and resolve data or reporting issues in collaboration with IT and data platform teams.
- Develop and maintain business-facing documentation for dashboards, reports, and data definitions.
- Serve as a primary point of contact for BI dashboard and reporting questions or support.
- Identify opportunities to improve existing dashboards, reports, and reporting processes.
- Stay current with BI tools, visualization best practices, and reporting standards.
- Contribute to a culture of excellence by following and promoting BI standards, documentation, and best practices.

What We Look For
- Bachelorβs Degree in Business, Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field, or equivalent work experience
- 3β5 years of experience in business intelligence, reporting, analytics, or a related role.
- Strong SQL skills with experience querying and validating data for reporting purposes.
- Hands-on experience developing and maintaining dashboards and reports in Power BI or similar BI tools.
- Experience working with structured datasets and basic data models.
- Credit Union Experience preferred
- Keystone Experience preferred
- Breadth and depth of knowledge pertaining to the credit union industry/retail financial services business, with the well-rounded knowledge of credit union practices preferred
