Description
Under the direction of an IT Supervisor, the Tableau Developer will be responsible for developing, publishing, and maintaining interactive dashboards and visualizations using Tableau to support data-driven decision-making within the agency. The Tableau Developer works closely with data analysts, program staff, and IT leadership to translate business requirements into functional and user-friendly data products; and performs other related work as required.
This role involves connecting to both on-premises and cloud-based data sources, applying appropriate row-level security, integrating with identity and access management systems, and ensuring that visualizations meet internal accessibility and performance standards. The developer is also expected to support secure, seamless authentication and integration with other cloud-based tools, including Salesforce and AWS-hosted services.
This position is housed within the Office of Information Technology (OIT), which provides technical leadership, innovation, and support across the Department. The Tableau Developer will support reporting modernization efforts, working on data initiatives that impact a wide array of internal and external stakeholders.
Requirements
Education
Bachelorβs degree in Information Technology, Data Analytics, Computer Science, or a related field.
Experience
Minimum of 4 years of experience building Tableau dashboards using Tableau Desktop and Tableau Cloud (or Tableau Server).
Preferred Education/Experience
Proficiency connecting to on-premises and cloud-hosted databases, including experience with data warehouse technologies.
Strong understanding of identity and access management, seamless authentication, and integration with cloud-based platforms such as Salesforce, AWS, and GitHub.
Ability to create parameterized views, implement row-level security, and optimize large dashboards for performance.
Familiarity with version control, CI/CD, and best practices in dashboard design and accessibility.
Experience working with stakeholders to refine requirements, test data products, and deliver training is preferred.
