JOB SUMMARY:Β Β  The Item Setup Data Specialist is responsible for managing, organizing, and maintaining product/item data within an organization’s database and retailers databases. Β The role involves ensuring that product details are accurately entered, updated, and kept up-to-date for optimal performance, providing necessary data for product listings, tracking, and analysis. This position will be required to work cross functional, as well as with customers, to ensure successful execution of all item information. This position is instrumental in the day-to-day functions needed to support the Total Team in operating successfully. This will be an in-office position at our Des Moines, IA corporate offices. Hours will be 8:00 am – 4:30 pm with possible overtime when needed.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • 2+ Years of prior data entry experience desired
  • 2-year degree desired but not required
  • Must be highly proficient in Microsoft Office Suite including advanced Microsoft Excel skills to include v-lookups and pivot tables
  • Strong critical thinking and analytical skillsΒ 
  • Strong ability to identify discrepancies and ensure data accuracy.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and handle multiple projects with varying deadlines and work in a fast-paced environment

  1. Data Entry and Setup:
    • Accurately input and update new product/item information into the retailers systems, including descriptions, specifications, pricing, categories, and other attributes.
    • Ensure product data is consistent and adheres to internal standards and guidelines.
    • Collaborate with merchandising teams to gather product details and ensure timely and accurate setup.
  2. Data Validation and Quality Control:
    • Review product information for completeness and correctness.
    • Perform data validation and resolve discrepancies in item data.
    • Monitor data quality and work on continuous improvements to processes for data integrity.
    • Ensure that all systems, databases, and platforms reflect the most current product/item information.
    • Work closely with key external partners to effectively communicate updates, address issues or concerns, and ensure timely follow-up on critical matters.
  3. Cross-Functional Collaboration:
    • Work with merchandising, marketing, and sales teams to ensure product information is accurately reflected across multiple platforms (e.g., websites, catalogues, and internal systems).
    • Assist with setting up promotional items and special offers.
    • Collaborate with other sales operations team members to provide imaging and long form copy for retailers outside of Target.
  1. Process Improvement:
    • Suggest improvements in the item setup process to streamline workflows and improve operational efficiency.

  • Provide back up and support to the National Accounts Specialists as needed

ENVIRONMENTAL AND PHYSICAL ACTIVITY REQUIREMENTS: Β The daily responsibilities of this position constantly require effective talking, hearing, sitting, walking and standing functions. Β The position also requires frequent repetitive motion activities. Must be able to read print and computer based materials and to do so with consistent accuracy. Β Most of these functions require light physical exertion and are conducted in a temperature controlled environment with occasional exposure to hot and cold temperature.Β
