PURPOSE: The Salesforce Business Analyst supports the successful delivery of Salesforce consulting engagements by translating business needs into functional requirements and system specifications. This role serves as a critical link between business stakeholders and the technical team, ensuring that solution designs address customer goals and constraints. The Business Analyst contributes to project delivery through user story documentation, testing support, and end-user enablement activities. Business Analysts at this level are expected to build their consulting acumen while providing value across the project lifecycle through analytical thinking, collaboration, and a commitment to continuous learning.
RESPONSIBILITIES: Business Analysts at Ascend have four primary areas of responsibility:
Project Planning
Gather Requirements: Participate in discovery sessions and workshops to gather, document, and prioritize business requirements and user stories.
Understand Scope: Support Consultants and Project Leads in understanding scope boundaries and defining minimum viable product (MVP) features.
Project Design and Configuration
Document Functional Requirements: Perform hands-on configuration tasks such as creating custom fields, page layouts, validation rules, flows, and reports under the guidance of Consultants or Architects. Contribute to solution implementation while escalating design decisions or complex logic to more senior team members.
Support Solution Design: Assist in evaluating configuration approaches and participate in design discussions.
Collaborate on Configuration: Support configuration tasks by preparing data models, fields, validations, flows, or templates as directed by Consultants or Architects.
Project Management
Test and Train: Develop and execute test scripts to validate solutions, coordinate UAT with customers, and drive iterative improvements through testing and feedback.
Support Training Delivery: Support change management and user adoption by developing training materials, job aids, and enablement content, and assisting with end-user training delivery.
Demonstrate Project Delivery: Demo work as completed, obtain feedback, and adjust as needed.
Collaboration
Liaise Between Teams: Act as a bridge between client stakeholders and the delivery team to clarify requirements and priorities.
Support Client Communication: Help document meeting notes, action items, and follow-up questions for delivery leads and clients.
Learn & Grow: Proactively engage in knowledge-sharing sessions, shadowing, and peer reviews to deepen understanding of Salesforce tools and consulting methods.
MINIMUM SKILLS, EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Business, Information Systems, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience
Experience: 1-3 years in a Salesforce Business Analyst or Administrator role
Required: Salesforce Administrator Certification
Platform Knowledge: Familiarity with Salesforce Sales Cloud, Service Cloud, or related modules
Documentation: Experience writing user stories, documenting process flows, and performing UAT
Configuration: Exposure to Salesforce configuration, including fields, validation rules, and flows (preferred)
Methodology: Understanding of the software development lifecycle and Agile project delivery
Problem Solving: Strong organizational, communication, and analytical thinking skills
Team Collaboration: Ability to thrive in a team environment and manage multiple priorities with minimal supervision
