Job Summary
The βSenior Business & Financial Analystβ supports leadership across sales, finance, and project delivery teams by delivering insightful, data-driven analysis and reporting. This role is responsible for analyzing sales trends, financial performance, and project profitability to help guide strategic decisions and optimize operational outcomes. The analyst will collaborate with executives, department heads, and business intelligence developers to build dashboards, improve forecasting, monitor financial performance, and identify areas for improvement or automation.
This role requires strong analytical skills, financial acumen, and a proactive mindset to surface opportunities and communicate findings that drive business performance. The analyst must be comfortable managing multiple streams of work and communicating insights to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
This individual will work collaboratively with business intelligence developers, controller, project managers, project accountants and executive stakeholders to ensure the accuracy, clarity, and effectiveness of business and financial reporting solutions. They will receive limited direction on day-to-day work and general instruction on new projects or strategic assignments.
The Senior Business & Financial Analyst will operate with a high degree of autonomy, receiving limited supervision for routine responsibilities and general guidance for complex or strategic initiatives. They may assist leadership on projects involving financial modeling, executive reporting, or cross-departmental analysis.
This individual will communicate and operate in alignment with the organizationβs mission, values, and strategic goals, while supporting the objectives of the finance, sales, and project delivery teams.
Essential Functions
Sales Analysis & Reporting
- Facilitate monthly sales planning sessions by preparing and analyzing sales performance reports
- Monitor sales pipeline trends, win/loss metrics, and customer segmentation
- Support sales forecasting, including variance analysis vs. Targets and historical performance
- Conduct pricing, revenue, and margin analysis to support strategic decisions
Financial & Project Analysis
- Analyze company financial performance vs. Budget and forecast
- Partner with project managers and project accountants to track project budgets, profitability, and cost-to-complete estimates
- Conduct break-even, overhead rate, and fee structure analyses for departments or service lines
- Develop financial models for scenario planning and margin optimization
Executive Reporting & Financial Insights
- Maintain and enhance high-level Power BI dashboards for executive leadership, including reporting on net income, operating expenses, trade working capital, and net service revenue
- Collaborate closely with the CFO and owners to ensure dashboards reflect evolving strategic needs and business priorities
- Ensure accuracy, clarity, and timely delivery of executive-level reporting to support high-impact financial decisions
Business Intelligence & Reporting
- Collaborate with BI and software developers to design and maintain dashboards and visualizations
- Define data requirements and KPIs across sales, financial, and project performance areas
- Deliver ad hoc analyses in response to executive, finance, or operations team needs
- Ensure timely, accurate delivery of recurring management reports
Operational Support & Automation
- Identify areas where automation or system enhancements can improve analysis or reporting
- Complete industry surveys and benchmarks for performance comparison
- Support annual planning processes, including budget development and departmental goal tracking
- Performs other related duties as assigned

Position Requirements (Advanced level for all the following, except as noted)
Technical Skills
- Expert-level Microsoft Excel, including advanced formulas, pivot tables, and charting
- Strong PowerPoint and Word skills for report development and presentations
- Experience with Power BI, SQL, or other BI/reporting tools
- Familiarity with ERP or project accounting systems
- Ability to leverage AI and emerging technologies to streamline workflows, optimize operational processes, and contribute to company-wide innovation.

- Strong analytical and financial modeling capabilities
- Ability to translate complex data into clear, actionable insights
- Excellent attention to detail and data accuracy

Travel / Relocation Requirements
- Up to 5%, this may include travel to any or all 50 US states
- Travel is defined as physically leaving home on behalf of business activities including but not limited to client sites, meetings with other employees, meeting for business development purposes, running errands on behalf of the business, attending industry conferences, etc.
Education / Experience
- Bachelorβs degree in business, finance, accounting, economics, or related fieldβ―
PLUS
- Minimum of eight years in business analysis, financial analysis, or sales operations analysisβ―
- Experience supporting professional services or project-based businesses
