Position Purpose: Sun Community Federal Credit Union is in the people business. As a Sr. Ag Financial Analyst, you play a critical role in supporting responsible growth through thoughtful credit analysis and sound risk assessment.
In this role, you will independently evaluate agricultural and commercial credit requests, analyze financial and collateral information, and develop well-supported credit recommendations. You will partner closely with the EVP/Chief Credit Officer and key stakeholders to structure transactions, monitor portfolio performance, and ensure a strong, compliant lending environment.
Success in this role means delivering accurate, timely analysis, supporting strategic lending decisions, and helping drive a high-quality member and borrower experience.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND BASIC DUTIES
Credit Analysis & Underwriting
- Perform detailed, independent financial and collateral analysis for agricultural and commercial credit requests.ย
- Evaluate business plans, financial statements, projections, and operating performance.ย
- Assess collateral feasibility in relation to loan structure, market conditions, and industry trends.ย
- Develop clear, data-driven conclusions and recommendations.ย
- Support both new credit requests and ongoing portfolio reviews, including annual term reviews.ย
- Recommend appropriate credit structures in alignment with Credit Union policies.ย

Credit Documentation & Reporting
- Prepare clear, concise, and timely written credit authorizations with complete and accurate information.ย
- Analyze industry, commodity, and market trends to support lending decisions.ย
- Prepare financial reports and analysis including budgets, forecasts, cash flow projections, and business plans.ย
ย
Portfolio Monitoring & Risk Management
- Monitor loan portfolio performance, including covenant compliance and delinquency trends.ย
- Complete annual reviews and maintain accurate documentation and contact logs.ย
- Identify risks associated with each loan and recommend appropriate mitigants.ย
- Assign and recommend risk ratings based on analysis.ย
ย
Collaboration & Relationship Support
- Partner with the EVP/Chief Credit Officer to structure transactions and evaluate risk.ย
- Participate in Loan Committee discussions as needed.ย
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to support efficient processing and a strong member experience.ย
- Participate in client calls and relationship discussions as assigned.ย
- Accompany Agricultural Relationship Managers on farm visits and evaluations, as needed.ย

Strategic & Operational Support
- Support growth initiatives related to agricultural and commercial lending products.ย
- Assist in the development and implementation of new products and vendor relationships.ย
- Conduct industry and market research to inform lending strategies.ย
ย
Compliance & Regulatory Alignment
- Interpret and apply Credit Union policies, regulatory requirements, and accounting principles.ย
- Ensure all work aligns with applicable laws, regulations, and internal standards.ย
ERFORMANCE MEASUREMENTS
ย
- Credit analysis and lending support are completed accurately, efficiently, and in alignment with Credit Union policies and regulatory requirements.ย
- Annual reviews, reports, and documentation are completed timely and with a high level of quality.ย
- Loan portfolio is effectively monitored, with risks appropriately identified and managed.ย
- Strong collaboration and working relationships are maintained across teams, leadership, and members.ย
- Member satisfaction is reflected through continued relationship growth and service quality.ย
- Internal and external audits (including NCUA) are completed with minimal findings.ย
- Ongoing compliance with all required training, policies, and business continuity standards.ย
- Adherence to all Anti-Money Laundering requirements, including BSA, OFAC, and USA PATRIOT Act.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
ย
Education and Experience
- Bachelorโs degree in Business, Accounting, Economics, or a related field preferred.
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in financial analysis, accounting, or lending; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Strong expertise in agricultural financial and collateral analysis, including complex credit structures.

- Ability to analyze financial data, forecasts, and performance metrics.
Working Conditions
- Work is performed in a standard branch office environment.

- Position may require extended periods of sitting or standing while performing teller transactions and assisting members.ย
