The Senior Financial Analyst position will be responsible for the accounting and financial reporting of Synergyβs, Chicago, Illinois operations. The duties will include the production of periodic financial reports, maintenance of an adequate system of accounting records, and a comprehensive set of controls and budgets designed to mitigate risk, enhance the accuracy of the company's reported financial results, and ensure that reported results comply with Ireland accounting standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Produce detailed cost information not supplied by general accounting systems, applying principles of cost accounting.
- Plans study and gathers data to determine costs of business activity, such as raw material purchases, inventory and labor.
- Act as Business Partner for the Site Leadership for Operations, Purchasing, Quality, EH&S as well as Regulatory
- Lead the cycle count program with the initial goal of eliminating annual physical inventories
- Analyze data obtained and document results.
- Manage the compilation of periodic statements of product cost and develop and/or prepare appropriate operating reports.
- Follow up expenditures of appropriations and supervise the assembly of data and comparisons of various budget items.
- Analyze major deviations of costs and margins (e.g., vs. prior month and budget) on a consistent basis.
- Identify Financial Transformation processes (Robotic Process Automation, A/P Automation, Onstream Implementation, etc.)
- Ensure that certain reserve accounts are maintained consistent with Company guidelines. Development and maintenance of standard costs
- Perform monthly closing activities including preparation of the cost to operate statement along with supporting analysis.
- Proactively analyze variances and communicate issues and opportunities to operations management.
- Collaborate with local management to prepare quarterly forecast and annual budget package.
- Ensure timely and accurate accounting records for all entities. Ensure that at any time all assets are protected, and all liabilities are properly recorded in the financials.
- Strive for continual improvement of all finance processes in order to get timely and more accurate information for Management to direct and support their business activities.
- Develop metrics and tracking system for major cost drivers
- Direct and participate in cost analyses and rate studies.
- Prepare statements and reports of estimated future costs and revenues.
- Coordinate preparation of external audit materials and external financial reporting.
- Review financial statements with management personnel.
Skills and Requirements
- Bachelors of Science in Accounting or Finance required
- MBA or certifications are a plus
- 5+ years' experience with proven success with similar responsibilities in a global manufacturing company.
- Demonstrate the ability to work independently and lead process improvements across different departments
- Knowledge of accounting and reporting systems (D365, SAP, OneStream, Hyperion, Excel, etc.).
- Strong understanding of business processes in a manufacturing environment.
- Demonstrated background managing an environment that requires a high sense of urgency, strong results orientation, tight time frames, budgeting experience and solid understanding of practices and procedures in an international environment
- Displays high degree of time management with the ability to work simultaneously on multiple projects within tight timeframes and to produce high quality work under very demanding circumstances
- Ability to analyze financial data and prepare financial reports, statements and projections
