Summary
The Tableau Developer ll will provide data visualization capacity for internal and external stakeholders by creating interactive reports, visualizations, and dashboards to support priority company needs. The Tableau Developer will work collaboratively with stakeholders to generate and evaluate user requirements, develop interactive visualizations using Tableau Suite, and provide expert technical assistance to staff as needed on visualization development. Responsibilities will include querying databases in addition to designing, developing, conducting unit testing, and maintaining complex Tableau reports for scalability, manageability, extensibility, performance, and re-use.
Essential Job Functions
路 Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to design and build visualizations that meet user requirements.
路 Translate business requirements into functional specifications for Tableau dashboards, ensuring solutions meet strategic objectives.
路 Connect to various data sources, ensuring data integrity and updating data as needed.
路 Create compelling and user-friendly dashboard reports that provide meaningful insights and guide decision-making.
路 Develop test plans and test visualizations to ensure reports, dashboards, and queries perform efficiently.
路 Provide technical assistance to MarketSource staff on the use of Tableau.
路 Work in partnership with Business Analysts to ensure data structures and visualizations are consistent with MarketSource brand standards and development styles.
路 Manage and integrate data from various sources, ensuring data accuracy and maintaining the integrity of data feeds.
路 Optimize Tableau dashboards and reports for performance, improving load times and handling large datasets efficiently.
路 Conduct training sessions and provide ongoing end-user support to maximize the value of Tableau tools.
路 Ensure governance of policies and data security, setting up appropriate access controls and monitoring data usage.
路 Manage Tableau Cloud, setting permissions, scheduling data refreshes, and monitoring performance.
路 Document data sources, transformations, and logic used in dashboards for troubleshooting and future development.
路 Handle large datasets, ensuring data quality and integrity through data cleansing and preparation.
路 Utilize SQL skills to query databases, extract data, and perform complex calculations.
路 Regularly reviewing the Tableau environment, identifying areas for improvement and implementing changes to enhance performance and usability
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

路 Requires a passion for using data to effectively support business needs by analyzing existing data structures and reports, while making changes as requested by users.
路 Mastery of the Tableau suite, including Tableau Desktop, Tableau Server, and Tableau Prep. (Certifications preferred)
路 Intermediate knowledge of SQL and database structures, theories, principles, and practices. (Snowflake experience is a plus)
路 Requires ability to juggle and prioritize multiple projects simultaneously and be comfortable dealing with changing priorities and timelines.
路 Must be able to understand the fundamentals of data structure and transform it into analytics.
路 Must be a motivated self-starter who can work independently, but also seek out opportunities to work collaboratively with others.
路 Must have hands-on experience designing new reports, maintaining and enhancing existing reports, and designing dashboards on scalable intelligence platforms.
路 Requires the ability to interact with User Community to gather requirements and transform it into a requirement document
路 Ability to adhere to agency data visualization policy, including training requirements, testing, and approvals.

Job Requirements

路 Bachelor鈥檚 degree in computer science or a related field.
路 5+ years of experience in building, customizing, and publishing Tableau interactive reports, visualizations, and dashboards.
路 5+ years of experience in communicating complex, analytical topics to both technical and non-technical audiences.
路 5+ years of experience in SQL, writing complex queries using joins, subqueries, aggregates, and functions.
路 Tableau Desktop Specialist, Data Analyst and Server Associate certifications is preferred.
