Description
Job Summary
The Data Analyst for the MDM Replacement Project will be the crucial link between technical data migration and business impact. You will be responsible for conducting an in-depth, side-by-side analysis of data from our legacy MDM system and our new platform. Your primary objective is to identify, quantify, and articulate the differences between the two datasets, and then collaborate with business stakeholders to analyze the potential impact on downstream processes, reporting, and operations. This role requires a unique blend of strong technical data skills and the ability to translate complex findings into clear, actionable business insights.
Ā
Key Responsibilities
Ā
- Data Analysis & Reconciliation:
- Develop and execute complex SQL queries to extract, profile, and compare large datasets from both the legacy and new MDM systems.
- Perform rigorous field-by-field and record-by-record analysis to identify discrepancies in data structure, format, values, and relationships.
- Analyze the output of data transformation and cleansing rules to validate that they are being applied correctly in the new system.
Ā
- Difference Highlighting & Reporting:
- Categorize and document all identified data differences (e.g., data quality issues, transformation logic changes, missing data, new enrichments).
- Create clear, concise reports and data visualizations (using tools like Tableau, Power BI, or Excel) to effectively present findings to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Develop a "Book of Differences" that serves as the single source of truth for all data variances discovered during the project.
Ā
- Business Impact Analysis:
- Collaborate closely with business analysts, data stewards, and subject matter experts from various departments (e.g., Sales, Marketing, Finance, Supply Chain) to review the identified data differences.
- Facilitate workshops and meetings to walk business users through the findings and help them understand the "so what" ā the potential impact on their daily operations, analytical reports, and business rules.
- Document the business impact assessments and any decisions or mitigation strategies agreed upon.
Ā
- Project Support:
- Support the Data Migration team by providing feedback on data quality and transformation logic.
- Assist in the definition of test cases and scenarios for User Acceptance Testing (UAT), focusing on data validation.
- Maintain detailed documentation of your analytical processes, findings, and methodologies.
Required Qualifications & Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Statistics, Business Analytics, or a related field.

- Strong experience with data analysis and profiling techniques.
- Demonstrated ability to handle and compare large, complex datasets with a high degree of accuracy.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP, Advanced Functions) for data manipulation and reporting.
- Experience with at least one data visualization tool (e.g., Tableau, Power BI, Looker).
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, with a proven ability to explain technical concepts to a non-technical audience.
Preferred Qualifications
- Direct experience working on a data migration, system replacement, or data integration project.
- Prior experience with Master Data Management (MDM) concepts and platforms (e.g., Informatica MDM, Reltio, Profisee, Semarchy).
- Familiarity with key data domains such as Customer, Product, Vendor, or Location data.
- Experience in Life Science is a significant plus.
- Basic scripting skills for data analysis (e.g., Python with Pandas) would be advantageous.
