Take on a key role as a Senior BI Engineer, where you’ll transform data into strategic solutions that empower our organization! RESPONSIBILITIES
- Analyze complex datasets from diverse sources (e.g., proprietary systems, third-party applications, financial systems, surveys) using statistical methods to identify trends and deliver actionable reports that enhance franchise, client, and associate experiences.
- Design and develop Power BI reports and semantic models, applying best practices for data flows, DAX, star schema design, and performance optimization to support business insights.
- Update and enhance Power BI semantic models, adding new fields, measures, optimizing DAX performance, and ensuring alignment with data governance standards.
- Administer the Power BI environment, managing workspaces, dataflows, gateways, user access, and security (RLS, OLS) to ensure compliance with organizational standards.
- Automate reports and create executive-level dashboards to communicate operational impacts and actionable insights to stakeholders.
- Collaborate with management and business units, interviewing managers and users to identify and prioritize data needs for various business segments.
- Promote data literacy, educating and empowering teams to effectively use data and reporting tools to drive decision-making.
- Support data pipeline processes, collaborating with the data service manager and data engineers to test, validate, and implement models in Databricks data warehouses and Fabric-connected sources.
- Establish and enforce data analytics standards to ensure consistency, quality, and compliance with organizational policies across reporting and modeling activities.
- Stay current with industry trends and technologies, maintaining expertise in data analytics and business intelligence to enhance organizational data capabilities.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATIONS
- A Bachelor’s degree in computer science, data science, software engineering, information systems, or a related quantitative field is required
- Minimum of two years of work experience in power BI reporting and data management disciplines, including data integration, modeling, optimization and data quality, or other areas directly relevant to data analytics responsibilities and tasks
- Proven project experience developing and maintaining data models and visual analytics reporting
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, OR ABILITIES
- Expertise in DAX codes, dataflow, semantic models, refresh times, and report performance.
- Strong experience in creating, maintaining, and enhancing existing Power BI reports and semantic models, performing root cause analysis and bug fixing, and implementing ongoing updates in response to business requests
- Familiarity with dimensional modeling and data warehousing concepts
- Exposure to Microsoft Fabric (Lakehouse, Warehouse, OneLake, Dataflows Gen2, DirectLake) preferred but not required
- SQL skills for data querying, manipulation, and optimization, and knowledge of other data science languages, including Python
- Ability to uphold strict confidentiality and data security when accessing proprietary business systems and critical data, ensuring compliance with secure governance protocols and exercising discretion under appropriate approvals
- Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders to gather requirements and align semantic models
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills to identify and resolve semantic modeling issues.
- Strong communication and documentation skills to effectively convey complex semantic modeling concepts to technical and business stakeholders
